William Tyler (aka Paper Hats) has been busy touring throughout Europe with Lambchop, in support of their newest album, Ohio (Merge, 2008), occasionally playing solo sets as an opening act. These instrumental sets are taken largely from Deseret Canyon, his recent LP release on the Munich-based label Apparent Extent.
In addition to wrapping the European tour with Lambchop this week in Copenhagen and Stockholm, Paper Hats will play a special Lunch Hour Show at the Malmö Konsthall Bookshop this Thursday, November 20, at 1 PM. The short, instrumental set is free and will last approximately 30 minutes.
Deseret Canyon, released in Autumn 2008 on the Munich-based label Apparent Extent, is the debut project of the talented young musician William Tyler from Nashville, Tennessee. The instrumental album is a minimal mixture of acoustic and electronic instruments, largely driven by Tyler’s exceptional guitar fingerpicking style. Tyler has developed a reputation as one of the promising young musicians for the Off-Nashville scene, especially around Mark Nevers' Beech House Studio and its eclectic line-ups, and has played on records with Candi Staton, Simone White, Bonnie Prince Billie, Silver Jews, to name a few.
We here at Apparent Extent are extremely happy to collaborate once again with Konsthall Malmö, a partnership that began with the latest AE release from Johanna Billing, “This is How We Walk on the Moon.”
Apparent Extent would like to extend a special thanks to Jacob Fabricius and Per Engström of Malmö Konsthall for their work in advance of this event. Special thanks as well to fellow musicians and Malmöese Magnus Sveningsson and Lars-Olof Johansson of Tambourine Studios for their help in providing support and equipment for what should be a wonderful (and full!) show.
